AFRICA TRAVEL VOLUNTEERS, known as AT Volunteers, is a volunteering organisation based in Africa and UK and is part of a long established charity called IBIS, which has been in operation since 2003.
They are based in The Gambia and Senegal, where its work is concentrated. Where there is real and urgent need for voluntary help.
Our Director founded two socio-economic development projects as charities in The Gambia.
- Business Training Centre an N.G.O. founded in 1997
- International Business College in 2003
These have educated over 15,000 young Gambians to date with the management of both having been successfully handed over to the local people.
Our leaders have visited 14 countries in Africa and have led 7 expeditions to the Sahara, Tanzania and Sri Lanka, which were supported by the Royal Geographical Society.
They work closely with the people in countries throughout West Africa and are experts in planning both volunteer project placements and expeditions into these areas.
All staff have either an HNC, an HND or University Degree, as well as local knowledge, thus providing all participants extensive orientation and training.
We only operate in peaceful, friendly and democratic countries.
We are the local experts, we love Africa, and we live there!
